ATTENTION NARFE MEMBERS IN OKLAHOMA
As you have no-doubt heard by now, there are
bills before the Oklahoma legislature that essentially do away with
the income tax exclusion on CSRS pay that NARFE fought 10+ years to
win for us, as well as the exclusions for Social Security and
Military pay. If you want to know more about it, read James
Crowder's article in the Federation Newsletter posted on
this website.
Here is a sample letter
you might use, and pass on to your fellow chapter members, to send
to your State Senator and Representative asking them to oppose such
legislation. Many chapters are already using similar letters
among their members. We need every member of NARFE in OK to
contact their legislators. Pass this letter on to Social
Security and military retirement recipients. We need to send
a very vocal and loud message to our legislators.
Thank you for doing your part to help!
UPDATE
It appears our letters have had an impact on the OK governor and legistators. They have heard us and seem to be reconsidering our exclusions in their bills. This doesn't mean we should give up now, though. The bills are far from complete. If you have not yet written your letters to your senator and representative, do so soon. We need to keep the pressure on.
Thanks for your help!
"Protecting the Future
for Active and Retired
Federal Employees"
The National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association is not a union, it is an association which is solely dedicated to the preservation of the earned retirement benefits of the federal employee. It is the only organization which is interested in this mission. It sponsors and supports legislation beneficial to present and future civilian Federal retirees and vigorously opposes those that would be detrimental. Nearly 50,000 federal retirees live in Oklahoma and have benefited from the efforts of NARFE, both nationally and at the state level.
Membership is open to civilians who expect to receive a federal annuity from any agency of the federal government, including retirees, employees, former employees, spouses and surviving spouses of persons eligible to join NARFE. Any current employee regardless of length of service qualifies for NARFE membership.
