Federal Employees Association
"Protecting the Future
for Active and Retired
Federal Employees"
The National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association is not a union, it is an association which is solely dedicated to the preservation of the earned retirement benefits of the federal employee. It is the only organization which is interested in this mission. It sponsors and supports legislation beneficial to present and future civilian Federal retirees and vigorously opposes those that would be detrimental. Nearly 50,000 federal retirees live in Oklahoma and have benefited from the efforts of NARFE, both nationally and at the state level.
Membership is open to civilians who expect to receive a federal annuity from any agency of the federal government, including retirees, employees, former employees, spouses and surviving spouses of persons eligible to join NARFE. Any current employee regardless of length of service qualifies for NARFE membership.
To: NARFE Members Region VI
From: Region VI Vice President Candidate, Jerome Smith
Hello, Region VI NARFE members. By now Chapters should have selected Delegates to the National Convention and submitted the necessary forms to our National Office so they can vote at the Convention. All Delegates can vote on the floor of the Convention as well as in the Caucus which will be held on Tuesday August 31. It is at this Caucus where your Region VI Vice President will be elected.
As a Candidate for your Vice President I am asking for your support and your vote. My NARFE career of almost 14 years has been one of increasing responsibility and scope every step of the way. In Chapter 344, Tyler, Texas, I held Offices as Legislative Officer, Vice President and currently President. My Federation responsibilities began as National Legislative Representative. I was then elected District Representative responsible for five Chapters in East Texas. Two terms later I was elected Area Vice President for Southeast Texas, responsible for 27 Chapters. Four years later I was elected Executive Vice President of the14,000 Member Texas Federation. In 2007 I had the honor and privilege of being elected President of the 88 Chapter Texas Federation for one two year term.
If you elect me as your Vice President, I cannot promise to increase membership, slow down the loss of members or insure a great legislative victory on any of NARFE priority issues. However, I will promise to work as hard as I can, using my knowledge, skills and abilities, to represent all of you to the best of my ability. Recruitment, Retention and Legislation are all part of the three legged stool that the future of NARFE rests upon. I will work hard on all three of the issues as preserving our earned benefits depends upon all of them.
You should immediately contact your Chapter President to see if you will have a Delegate going to the National Convention. If you will not have a Delegate, then your Chapter needs to assign a Proxy to represent you before the August 13 deadline. Contact any Federation Officer as they can help find someone to carry your Proxy. It is extremely important that each Chapter be represented at the National Convention. Please find a Proxy, it is that important, as many issues will be decided which will affect the future of NARFE. Your voice needs to be heard.
Thank you. See you in Grand Rapids.

JOIN THE NEW NARFEnet !!
We now have a new Oklahoma NARFEnet. To simplify the sending of email messages about NARFE to those in Oklahoma who wish to receive them, we will now exclusively use this service from Yahoo. But you must join in order to receive NARFEnet messages. Click on the link below and follow the directions. This is a "closed" group reserved just for us. During the registration process, tell me who you are and what chapter you belong to. I will approve your membership with that information. You do not need to remember any passwords; this will allow your email address to be placed on the list to receive emails of interest from NARFE of Oklahoma. (I have never received email ads from Yahoo by joining their Groups.)
Any problems signing up?? Email me at stanphillart@cox.net and I will manually place you on the list.
