Chapter 2351 Newsletter

May, 2010

The state convention for 2010 is over and we all feel it was a resounding success!  Please read the Federation newletter on this website to find the details listed by the various authors of the articles.  There was a lot of instruction available on every aspect of NARFE structure and business, as well as a concentration on computer usage to help our members become more comfortable with their use, and the use of our websites.  Each of you should  be using the National and State websites to find information valuable to you as a retired or active Federal employee.  The more you know about our issues, the more informed you are and will be able to communicate effectively with your congressmen.

Since our chapter does not meet monthly, it is your responsibility to check our websites frequently for the newsletters, etc.  We also try to call your attention to matters of importance through e-mail messages.  I encourage each of you to join NARFEnet.  Messages from our state Federation are sent out. The link to join is on the bottom of the home page of this website.

The next big, important event to take place is the National Convention.  There has been abundant information published in the recent issues of the NARFE Magazine, along with a registration form to send to National.  This information is also available on www.narfe.org.  Please consider going to the convention as a delegate from our chapter.  We are authorized 4 voting delegates.  Let us know if you can be a delegate.  At our annual meeting the evening before the Federation convention, we voted to reimburse each delegate, who goes from this chapter, $400 to help defray the expenses.  You will learn so much about NARFE and how it is helping you to retain and improve your retirement benefits.  There have been many close calls recently that have put some benefits in jeopardy.  NARFE has been successful, so far, in maintaining what we feel we earned as Federal workers.  We probably have the best retirement of any worker in the country.  Help us maintain that.
